"Front facade of Ruchikalpam, a contemporary 4,500 sq. ft. residence featuring terracotta-inspired jali screens, integrated planters, layered balconies, and warm earthy tones that enhance privacy and connect the home with nature."

Located on a southeast-facing plot, Ruchikalpam is a contemporary family residence with an approximate built-up area of 4,500 sq. ft. The project includes both architectural and interior design, developed around a unified material palette inspired by the warmth and character of terracotta.

The design derives its identity from a custom terracotta-toned jali screen that wraps key portions of the facade. Beyond its visual appeal, the screen acts as a functional element, providing privacy to the front-facing master bedroom while filtering sunlight and creating a dynamic play of light and shadow throughout the day. Integrated planter boxes and landscaped terraces soften the built form, allowing greenery to cascade across the elevation and create a living connection between architecture and nature.

The facade composition balances clean contemporary volumes with earthy textures and natural materials. Terracotta accents are thoughtfully paired with neutral finishes, metal railings, and lush planting to establish a warm yet modern aesthetic. The design language extends seamlessly into the interiors, creating a cohesive experience throughout the residence.

A defining feature of the home is the use of arches as transitional elements. These softened forms introduce visual warmth while framing key spaces within the house. An intimate family lounge incorporates an arched sitting nook with a suspended swing, creating a comfortable gathering space that encourages interaction and relaxation.

Designed to maximize natural ventilation, daylight, and visual openness, Ruchikalpam integrates balconies, terraces, planters, and shaded outdoor spaces as an extension of everyday living. The result is a contemporary residence that balances privacy, comfort, and timeless design while celebrating the beauty of earthy materials and greenery.
