Contemporary multi-storey residence featuring layered cantilevered balconies, glass railings, terracotta jali accents, cascading vines, a rooftop pergola with greenery, and landscaped surroundings under a bright blue sky.

Designed on a 1,650 sq. ft. corner plot with a built-up area of approximately 4,800 sq. ft., Hari Darpan is a contemporary residence that thoughtfully responds to its orientation, climate, and urban context. Located on a corner site with two open sides, the house is planned to maximize natural light, ventilation, and outdoor connections while maintaining thermal comfort throughout the year.

The primary entrance is positioned along the south-east-facing frontage, while the longer edge of the residence fronts the south-west. Taking advantage of this openness, the principal living spaces and bedrooms are oriented toward the south-west, allowing the home to benefit from expansive views, daylight, and cross-ventilation.

Given the intense solar exposure associated with the south-west orientation, passive design strategies play a key role in the architectural expression. A striking terracotta jali screen protects the double-height lounge from direct sunlight, filtering daylight into the interiors while creating a dynamic play of light and shadow. Large glazed openings are fitted with high-performance glass, reducing heat gain without compromising openness or visual connectivity.

The design extends beyond the built form through a series of outdoor living spaces distributed across multiple levels. Balconies and sit-outs create intimate pockets for everyday use, while a covered terrace lounge on the second floor provides a comfortable gathering space throughout the seasons. Above, a roof terrace garden with a pergola offers a shaded retreat surrounded by greenery, encouraging a seamless relationship between architecture and nature.

Defined by clean contemporary lines, terracotta accents, integrated landscaping, and climate-responsive planning, Hari Darpan is a home that balances environmental performance with modern living, creating spaces that are both functional and deeply connected to their surroundings.
