Situated on a 2,100 sq. ft. plot with a total built-up area of approximately 5,800 sq. ft., Shashibala Kunj is a contemporary residence designed to respond thoughtfully to the challenges of a dense urban setting. Surrounded by neighboring homes on three sides and approached through a narrow road, the design turns inward, creating a private and tranquil living environment centered around light, greenery, and spatial openness.
The planning is organized around a series of double-height volumes, skylights, indoor gardens, and a landscaped backyard, allowing natural light and ventilation to penetrate deep into the home. As a northwest-facing residence, skylights play a crucial role in introducing sunlight into the interiors, bringing warmth and brightness to both floors throughout the day. These light-filled voids create dynamic spatial experiences while reducing dependence on artificial lighting.
A defining feature of the home is its seamless integration of nature into everyday living. Indoor green pockets, terrace gardens, and a backyard landscape establish visual and physical connections with the outdoors, creating a calm and refreshing atmosphere despite the compact urban surroundings. The result is a residence that feels open, bright, and deeply connected to nature while maintaining privacy and comfort for modern family living.
